CCH held graduation for Project SEARCH interns

(COLUMBUS, Neb.) – Columbus Community Hospital, a Project SEARCH site, held a graduation ceremony for its Project SEARCH 2020 interns on Friday, September 25 at 1 p.m. in the hospital’s first floor conference center.

The ceremony, which was attended by a limited number of people, due to the current, COVID-19 visitor restrictions, was livestreamed on the Project SEARCH-Columbus, NE Facebook page and available for people to join on Zoom.

Five Project SEARCH interns graduated, including: Christopher Fendrick (Columbus High School), Colton Ibsgaard (David City Public Schools), Josh Fernandez (Columbus High School), Katie Heying (Boone Central High School), Dan Thomas (Columbus High School) and Kris Worley (Twin River Schools).

Project SEARCH is a school-to-workplace transition program for high school students with disabilities. It provides training and education that will help these students find and maintain employment after graduation.

Over the course of an academic year, Project SEARCH interns received classroom instruction as well as hands-on training at CCH.
