Columbus Community Hospital named in Top 20 Rural and Community Hospitals
Columbus Community Hospital was recently named one of the top 20 rural and community hospitals in the country.
Press Release:
Columbus Community Hospital was recently named one of the top 20 rural and community hospitals in the country.
“All of our staff members, physicians and volunteers work hard to provide the best possible care to our patients. It’s such an honor for their work to be recognized on this national scale,” said Michael Hansen, CCH president and CEO. “We hope this recognition further reassures our patients that they are truly receiving the highest-quality health care right here in our community.”
The award was announced by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA), a national nonprofit membership organization with more than 20,000 members that provides leadership on rural health issues.
CCH received the award because it was one of the 20 highest-ranked prospective payment system hospitals in the country based on an evaluation by the Chartis Center for Rural Health, an advisory and analytics firm for the health care industry.
These rankings were created using iVantage Health Analytics’ Hospital Strength Index, which, according to the Chartis Center, is the “industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance in the United States.” The index assesses hospital performance based on 50 indicators and eight pillars of performance. It is used by the NRHA to support advocacy and legislative initiatives.
Earlier this month, CCH was also recognized as one of the top 100 rural and community hospitals based on this same index. It was the only hospital in Nebraska to be recognized in this list.
It was then chosen as one of the top 20 hospitals based on eight indices that assessed:
· Inpatient market share
· Outpatient market share
· Quality
· Outcomes
· Patient perspectives
· Costs
· Charge, and
· Financial efficiency
CCH will be honored, along with the rest of the top 20 rural and community hospitals, in an award ceremony during NRHA’s Rural Hospital Innovation Summit May 21 in San Diego.
