KIMBALL -- The Farmer’s Day Committee is introducing the first-ever “Kids Korner” full of carnival-themed fun as part of the 99th Annual Farmer’s Day celebration in Kimball.

Kids Korner will take up a small section of downtown by the Goodhand Theater where kids can win prizes and play games such as a dart board with balloons, ring toss, a mini bowling alley, and a single-hole golf game, as well as face painting at a low cost and raffle tickets available to purchase.

Most everything will be free-will donations for the Farmer’s Day Committee to cover costs for this year and be able to continue the event in the future.

WeeShire Mains is also bringing their new baby goats to have on display for the kids to see and possibly pet as well.

Kids Korner Coordinator Barbi Koehn said since she has worked with kids for over 25 years, she jumped at the opportunity to create something special for them to enjoy at the Farmer’s Day celebration.

“We’re just trying to get excitement going, the last few years we have not had a good turnout for kid's activities, so I decided this year we were going to make kids part of Farmer’s Day where they haven't necessarily been a huge part in the past,” Koehn said. “I really feel like this is an area in Farmer's Day that needs to grow with it and be something that is a bigger part of the community because the kids are a huge part of the community.”

The Farmer's Day celebration will run from September 26 - 28 that will include several other events including the parade, a salsa contest, car show, air show, and much more.
