COLUMBUS, Neb. -- A charity event in Columbus drew in people from across Nebraska to across the globe. The Platte Valley BBQ and music festival included barbecue vendors, concerts, and dances.

Friday and Saturday consisted of live music and barbecue contests, while Sunday’s lineup focused on children and families.

Out of all the barbecue vendors, Aussom Aussie was the one to come out on top.

Proceeds from the event went to local charity foundations and organizers say they plan to continue the festival for the years to come. With the positive turnout this year, conversations are already underway about returning in 2026.

"We want to be able to help the local causes," said Jan Surcher.
