OMAHA, Neb. -- Three women have been sentenced in connection to a multi-year sex trafficking investigation.

Investigations started in 2022, and now all three women who were arrested on sex trafficking related charges received their sentences at the beginning of 2025.

24-year-old Alexas Davis, was sentenced to nine years in prison on Jan. 15 for conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking a minor.

35-year-old Joan Robinson was sentenced to 19.5 years in prison on Jan. 23 for transportation of a minor for prostitution.

24-year-old Khalah Beard was sentenced to more than 10 years in prison on Jan. 30 for conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking a minor.

The Omaha Police Department said that in November 2022, they started investigating possible sex trafficking in the Omaha area, in partnership with Homeland Security Investigations.

Officers were sent to a Walmart on South 72nd Street for a shoplifting incident that involved a woman and a girl.

OPD said their investigation revealed that the girl was reported missing from Kansas, and she was staying in a hotel with the woman.

Police obtained a court-authorized search warrant they executed at the hotel.

During the search, OPD officers found cash, narcotics, and "items consistent with commercial sexual activity."

There were several suspects identified. OPD said the criminal activity had ties to Wichita, Kansas, where there were additional suspects.

OPD and Omaha HSI teamed up with the Wichita Police Department and Wichita HSI for further investigation.

All four agencies said that in March 2023, they worked together to identify and find multiple suspects. The agencies interviewed the suspects about their involvement.

Following the interviews and investigations, there were three suspects arrested on sex trafficking related charges.

In the OPD press release it was stated, "The sentences imposed on those involved in this incident stand as a reminder that the sexual exploitation of children will not be tolerated in Omaha. They are a direct result of the excellent collaboration between OPD and HSI, a collaboration that aims to identify and dismantle these illicit operations. The Omaha Police Department will continue to work with federal partners to address an emerging and on-going issue with regard to sex trafficking and to ensure that those responsible for these crimes are held accountable to the highest degree."
