IMPERIAL, Neb. - Sedgwick County/Fleming emerged as the team champion, with 174 points, at the competitive 25-team Chase County Wrestling Invite in Imperial on Saturday. The champions edged host school Chase County, which finished second with 153 points. Burlington rounded out the top three with 145.5 points in a closely contested battle.

Sedgwick County/Fleming’s performance was highlighted by several individual champions. Freshman Nathan Gonzales won the 106-pound division, pinning McCook’s John White in 5:48 in the finals. Sophomore Cooper Edson secured the 113-pound title in dramatic fashion, edging Burlington’s Aaron Robles 4-1 in sudden victory. At 138 pounds, senior Mario Ortiz reached the finals, but fell to Hershey’s Ethan Elliott, who earned a technical fall victory in 5:03.

Chase County was led by seniors Luis Co and Zach Tarin. Co claimed the 150-pound championship with a pin over Sedgwick County/Fleming’s Owen Harris in 2:19. Tarin capped the day for the home crowd with a pin at 3:18 over Holyoke’s Hudson Koellner in the 285-pound final, maintaining his undefeated record this season. Other notable finishes for Chase County included Dylan Miscles, who placed fifth at 106 pounds, and Westyn Mendenhall, who took third at 157 pounds with a technical fall over McCook’s Tate Schafer.

Burlington also had several wrestlers on the podium, including Anthony Estrada, who earned a hard-fought 3-0 decision over Sidney’s Cayson Boltjes to win the 215-pound title. Meanwhile, McCook’s Tristan Campbell continued his perfect season by defeating Sedgwick County/Fleming’s Scotty Engle 6-4 in the 144-pound championship match.

The day featured several thrilling matchups, such as Sidney’s Zech Roggasch taking the 165-pound crown with a 9-4 decision over Chase County’s Scott Hoover. At 190 pounds, Patrick McCartney, of Sidney, pinned Dundy County-Stratton's Laken Wissink in 59 seconds to take the top spot on the podium.

In the 175-pound division, Crawford’s Cody Holmgren overpowered Hitchcock County’s Dalten Hagan for a 12-3 major decision to claim first place. Another standout performance came from Garden County’s Jase Roberson, who narrowly edged Burlington’s Connor Halde 12-11 to win the 157-pound title.
