Molly Bird experienced one of the hardest moments of her life on Wednesday when she saw her home surrounded by high waters. she and her family quickly ran out of their home to high land hoping to meet a rescue team.

"The Fremont Fire Department was in the area, and as we were walking, they met us. they had a big military vehicle up in this high road and took us the rest of the way," said Molly.

Around 10 pm on Tuesday,  Fremont officials sent out an evacuation alert saying that a flooding may occur along the Platte River. molly says that since January there have been high waters in her neighborhood, but everything started to get worst this week.

"So, Tuesday night, the water came up, and when we woke up in the morning the water was just too high for us to be able to drive out with our vehicles."

Molly's relatives offered her shelter. fortunately, the waters have gone down to normal levels and molly is now back home

"Everything started moving the ice started melting, so is moving and we have no waters in our backyard".

Despite the circumstances, molly is grateful for the well-being of her family

"We are pretty blessed there are no losses that I can speak of, just some damage to our property like mud. but there's a lot of people that are a lot worst than we are".

She says she feels blessed to have the support of family, friends, and the community.

"Everybody is so supportive and willing to do anything to help. The community is gonna have to come together to help these people who had their property ruined and have big messes to clean up. the community did it in 2019 so last year in 2020, so they’ll do it again.

Molly's family is doing well - and flood warnings have expired. but it's a good reminder to stay alert - especially this time of year."
