COLUMBUS, Neb. — Central Community College is expanding its athletics program with the addition of three new sports.

The CCC Board of Governors approved beach volleyball, women’s golf and women’s flag football during its March 19 meeting, bringing the college’s total number of teams to 12.

Beach volleyball and women’s golf will be based at the Columbus campus, while women’s flag football will be offered at the Hastings campus.

College officials say the new programs are aimed at creating more opportunities for student-athletes and expanding participation in growing sports.

Current coaches will lead two of the programs, allowing recruiting to begin immediately for a planned spring 2027 season. A head coach for women’s flag football has not yet been named, and a timeline for that program is still being determined.

CCC officials say they are the first community college in Nebraska to offer beach volleyball and women’s flag football.
