Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department recognizes members, community supporters at annual banquet

The Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department honored its firefighters and community supporters at its annual awards banquet. Casey Sides was named Firefighter of the Year and Natalie Teppert earned Rookie of the Year honors.

BRIDGEPORT, Neb. — The Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department honored firefighters, volunteers and community supporters during its annual Awards and Employer Appreciation Banquet.

Several members were recognized for their service and contributions during the past year.

Kristie Mitchell was honored for 20 years of service with the department.

Casey Sides received the Firefighter of the Year award, while Natalie Teppert was named Rookie of the Year. Dave McCabe was recognized as Officer of the Year.

The department presented its Dedicated Service award to Trinette Wells. Shawn Teppert Jr. received the department’s Blooper of the Year recognition.

Faessler Farms was named Business of the Year, and H3 was recognized as Employer of the Year for supporting employees who serve as volunteer firefighters.

The department also recognized its Top Five Responders for the year: Trinette Wells, Casey Sides, Shawn Teppert Jr., Dave McCabe and John Pankowski.

Fire prevention recognition was given to Natalie Teppert, Shawn Teppert Jr., Dave McCabe, Kristie Mitchell and Trinette Wells. Junior firefighters Lizzy Menke and Britni Mitchell were also recognized for their work in fire prevention.

Andy Benavidez was honored for five years of service as a rural fire board member.
