The Valentine boys basketball team was in Kimball Thursday to take on the longhorn boys in a subdistrict championship game some had predicted as early as December. The two teams have dominated the C2-10 subdistrict all season and came into the championship game as the the top two seeds, Kimball being number one.

The longhorns led early on, making the first five shots in the game. Valentine came back in the second and led 34-31 at the half. Kimball came back to lead 50-48 at the end of three and grew their lead early in the fourth quarter before the Valentine shooters came alive. Kimball had two crucial fouls and two untimely turnovers that allowed the Badgers back in then put them on top.

Valentine becomes the C2-10 subdistrict champion with a 69-66 win on the road. The longhorns have the 4th most wildcard points in the class and are expected to host a district final, however Valentine's win positions them for an easier path to state.
