COLUMBUS, Neb. (Press Release) -- City officials are continuing to urge residents to stay off the Columbus Loup River Levee as they survey the area and assess potential damage following ice jam issues late last week and over the weekend.

"The City Of Columbus is requesting that any and all land owners adjacent to the Columbus Loup River Levee System that have permitted accesses to the river, to please stay off of levee and areas between the levee and the river bank until further notice," said City Public Works Director Chuck Sliva.

City crews are needing time to survey and inspect for damage, as well as to make potential repairs. Officials uncovered damage from people riding ATVs at the toe of the levee, as well as in restricted area not intended for permitted access.
