BROKEN BOW, Neb. - Two firefighters are recovering from injuries that were sustained during a recent fire response. 

The firefighters were injured when their fire truck rolled into a canyon while responding to a fire on Lillian Road, North of Broken Bow, which was one of several fires reported across Custer County Monday.

One of the injured firefighters was transported by Broken Bow Ambulance Service to Melham Medical, while the second was airlifted by LifeNet North Platte to CHI Good Samaritan Hospital's trauma center.

The Broken Bow Public Information Officer confirmed Tuesday that the firefighter at Melham Medical has been treated and released.

The other firefighter at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney remains in stable condition and under medical care.

Fire crews are still on-site containing and monitoring the fires throughout the area. A red flag warning is in effect for the area.

Broken Bow Fire Chief Dustin Watson canceled all issued burn permits on Tuesday, saying all permits are null and void until further notice. 

Another fire just East of Broken Bow was reported Tuesday, and was under control as of 12:30 p.m.
