Nebraska State Patrol mourns loss of Trooper Kyle McAcy, killed in line of duty

OMAHA, Neb. (NCN) — The Nebraska State Patrol is mourning the tragic loss of Trooper Kyle McAcy, who was killed in the line of duty Monday after being struck by a snowplow on Interstate 80 in eastern Nebraska.
Trooper McAcy, 31, was responding alongside other troopers to a crash near mile marker 424, between Ashland and Greenwood, when the incident occurred. According to a preliminary investigation, he was outside his patrol unit when he was struck. Fellow troopers immediately rendered aid, but McAcy succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office is handling the crash investigation.
“Our NSP family is devastated today,” said Colonel John Bolduc, superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “Kyle was a dedicated trooper, a devoted public servant and most importantly a good friend to many in Omaha and beyond. His loss is being felt by countless people. Please keep his family, friends, colleagues and community in your hearts as they deal with this unimaginable loss.”
A ten-year veteran of the Nebraska State Patrol, McAcy was a graduate of Camp 56 and wore badge #302. He served in multiple capacities, including Patrol Division, Carrier Enforcement, and as a Crisis Negotiator. He was stationed in Omaha.
The Nebraska State Patrol has notified McAcy’s family and is providing support.
