COLUMBUS, Neb. -- The Loup Power District announced Thursday morning that a "last-mile" Amazon distribution facility will be coming to Columbus in 2025.

“This facility will allow expedited service to Amazon customers in our service territory” said Todd Duren, Co-Chair of the Columbus Economic Council and Vice President of Corporate Services at Loup Power District. “The project will also benefit our local economy by providing employment opportunities for our local workforce. Columbus is extremely excited to begin and grow this partnership with Amazon.”

Loup finalized the sale of 10.4 acres of its Energy Triangle Addition early December, and preparing the site started immediately.

A last-mile delivery facility is the final leg of the delivery process, and one of the most important for ensuring timely and safe delivery of packages.

The 50,000-square-foot facility will be constructed by Ryan Companies of Minneapolis.

The press release said that Amazon expects to employ about 50 people locally.
