Washington, Kansas man killed when SUV turns in front of his motorcycle

BEATRICE – A motorcycle operator was killed and a passenger on the bike seriously injured in a northeast Kansas accident, Saturday afternoon. 

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports the accident happened when a northbound sport utility vehicle on Kansas Highway 15 attempted to turn west onto Kansas Highway 9, in front of a southbound motorcycle.  The motorcycle struck the SUV, with both vehicles coming to rest on Kansas 15.

The collision killed the operator of the 2002 Harley Davidson Electra Glide….56-year-old Daniel Barnhill, of Washington, Kansas.  His passenger, 58-year-old Pamela Barnhill, of Washington…was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital.

The driver of the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe, 25-year-old Hannah Fahey, of Clay Center, Kansas was not injured in the collision. 

The motorcycle operator, Daniel Barnhill, was not wearing a helmet, according to the K-H-P.  His passenger, Pamela Barnhill was wearing a helmet.

The collision happened about four miles south of Palmer, Kansas.
