Gage County settles on trailer home accident
Mobile home was being towed across southern Gage County
By News Channel NebraskaBEATRICE – Gage County officials have approved a settlement agreement with a private individual that covers costs of removal of a trailer home that collapsed while being hauled across a county road, recently.
The agreement addresses liability issues in the incident where a mobile home being towed from Ellis to Liberty became stuck on Liberty Drive, when the wheels and suspension on the mobile home failed.
The 70-foort mobile home was dragged for about a half-mile, according to the Gage County Sheriff’s Department, before it collapsed on the road and could no longer be moved.
The road was barricaded until the trailer home could be removed. Sheriff Millard Gustafson said the county incurred a cost of about $15,000 for a local firm to clear away the scene.
The county’s highway superintendent said the road did not sustain damage from the incident.
