Ag Park barn total loss after Wednesday morning fire

COLUMBUS, Neb. -- The Columbus Fire Department said there was a barn fire at Ag Park on Wednesday morning.
The Nebraska State Fire Marshal's Office investigation is pending for a stable barn destroyed in a fire at Ag Park in Columbus.
"At this time, we have not made a determination as the cause of the blaze," said Columbus Fire Department Chief Ryan Gray.
Gray noted that the Nebraska State Fire Marshal's Office was contacted to investigate and help determine the cause.
CFD said they were dispatched around 10:22 a.m. on Wednesday for a structure fire at Ag Park, and the call indicated that one of the stable barns was on fire.
When crews arrived, they said they found and confirmed a single stable barn was fully on fire.
CFD said crews and Columbus Rural Fire Department were able to contain the fire to the building origin.
Gray said the building was a total loss, and he added there were no injuries or death to firefighters, civilians or horses as of early Wednesday afternoon.
There were reportedly horses in an adjacent barn, but they were unharmed.
"We would like to thank Bellwood Fire Department for backfilling at Station 1 while our crews were tied up, the City of Columbus Parks and Recreation Department and the Ag Park staff for their assistance with providing heavy equipment and operators to assist us during the overhaul process," Gray said.
