GENOA, Neb. -- A driver was taken by helicopter after a crash in rural Nance County on Tuesday.

Nance County Deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident on South 380th Ave in rural Nance County. 

According to deputies, the investigation indicates that the vehicles were traveling in opposite directions on the gravel road.

As the vehicles met at the crest of a hill, they collided, causing extensive damage to the front driver side of both vehicles.

The driver of the southbound vehicle was pinned inside the car and had to be extracted by members of the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department and Genoa Rescue. The driver was then transported by helicopter from the scene.

The occupants of the northbound vehicle which had rolled, were transported by ambulance to the Genoa Community Hospital with less severe injuries.
