COLUMBUS, Neb. -- There are 13 counties that will be hit by delayed shipments of 2023 license plates.

The Platte County Treasurer's Office said that the following counties will be impacted by the delayed shipments: Gage, Dodge, Saunders, Madison, Hall, Buffalo, Platte, Adams, Lincoln, Dawson, Cass, Scotts Bluff, Washington.

The Treasurer's Office said that the counties will receive quarterly shipments of license plates during 2023, which will limit their ability to return the same plate number to all customers.

It was reported that one result of the limitation will be the possibility of two vehicles having the same plate number - one with the 2017 design and one with the 2023 design - for a short time.

The Platte County Treasurer's Office said that they intend to return the same plate number to customers that renew on a timely basis if the plate has been produce and is available.

However, it was said that due to the quarterly shipments, received in plate number order, most residents will be issued a new plate number at time of renewal.

The Platte County staff are hopeful residents will understand the supply chains issues and limitations are outside of their control.
