One pet killed, no humans seriously injured in Columbus fire

A pet was killed in a Columbus fire Monday morning, though no humans were seriously injured, according to authorities.

COLUMBUS, Neb. -- A pet was killed in a Columbus fire Monday morning, though no humans were seriously injured, according to authorities.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., Columbus Fire was alerted to a structure fire in the 3400 block of 20th Street.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire from multiple windows and doors from one side of a duplex.

According to Columbus Fire, crews made an aggressive attack and the fire was contained to the apartment of origin.

All human occupants made it out safely, with occupant treated and released for minor injuries. A family pet died in the blaze, however.

The Red Cross was contacted to provide after incident support to the affected residents.
