DUNCAN, Neb. -- It was a busy weekend for the village of Duncan in Platte Valley.

Sunday, petitioners gathered outside of the 2023 Ribfest. The petition they're working on is looking to make it so that Nebraska voters would have to present a valid photo I.D. to be able to vote.

To get on the ballot first, petitioners must collect signatures from ten percent of registered Nebraska voters.

As of Thursday, there are just 35 days left to submit those signatures and activists still need to gather thousands more.

State Senator Julie Slama is spearheading this petition drive.
