DAVID CITY, Neb. -- A museum in Butler County is planning a major expansion.
The Bone Creek Museum in David City is raising funds to complete its expansion and renovation of the Ford Building in town.
The museum recently acquired the Ford Building, which is located two blocks away from its current location.
Storage has been a big issue for Bone Creek Museum and the 21,000-square-foot ford building will provide much-needed relief.
Ruth Thoendel, the chair of the museum board, said the expansion will help bring in a new wave of tourism to the area.
"I think it will be important to the community as a point of pride that we have this here. It will bring a lot of activity. It will bring things to do and it will bring other people into town," she said.
Thoendel also said that a gallery for emerging artists will be added to the new location.
The museum has hosted visitors from all 50 states and 10 different foreign countries.
They have raised $2 million and are looking to raise $2 million more.
