COLUMBUS - It's a disease that 13 percent of American adults are living with and Columbus Community Hospital wants those with diabetes to know about a support group it's offering.

The Diabetes Support Group is a series of workshops that helps people with managing their health.

Certified diabetes educator Joan Plummer hosts the group.  She said managing diabetes is a full-time job that you can't get a vacation from, and that it's a good opportunity for folks who have the disease to talk about the struggles of living with it and know that they're not alone.

"There’s a lot of help for them out there," Plummer said.  "Whether it’s through our education department, whether it’s just talking to other people who have diabetes that also come to the support group looking for help and support.”

The group gathered Tuesday night and its next meeting is on May 5 at CCH.

If you would like more information or are interested in attending the Diabetes Support Group, contact Joan Plummer at (402) 562-4462 or [email protected].
