COLUMBUS - The Columbus City Council added one more piece to the puzzle of building new police and fire stations.

On Monday, the council approved two purchases: One for security equipment for the new police station and the other for beds and mattresses at the new fire station.

Together, the two purchases are more than $28,000, but Mayor Jim Bulkley said they're already in the budget, so residents don't have to worry about seeing their taxes go up.

Bulkley said police hope to move into their new station before Christmas and that the firefighters are set to get their new home sometime in the spring of 2020.
