Teen helps family escape Scottsbluff mobile home fire

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. — A teenager is being credited with helping his family escape safely after a fire broke out Saturday afternoon at Northside Mobile Home Park in Scottsbluff.
The Scottsbluff Rural Fire Protection District was dispatched to the blaze at 3:53 p.m. Crews arrived to find about 25 percent of the trailer home involved, according to officials. Firefighters made a quick knockdown that minimized damage to the contents of the home.
All occupants were able to exit without injury. Fire officials praised the teenager living in the home for his quick actions in getting everyone out safely.
The Nebraska State Fire Marshal determined the cause of the fire was electrical. Units remained on scene until 7:23 p.m.
The Mitchell Fire Department provided a tanker for mutual aid. Scottsbluff Rural Fire also thanked the Nebraska State Fire Marshal, Scotts Bluff County Communications Center, Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office, Black Hills Energy and Roosevelt Public Power District for assisting at the scene.
