BRUSH CO - The Sidney Lady Raiders bounced back from a loss to Ogallala on Thursday by rolling past the Brush Beetdiggers in straight sets, 25-5, 25-16, 25-12 on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, Sidney evens its record at 2-2 while Brush drops to 1-4.

Sidney came out red-hot in the opening set, scoring the first nine points behind three kills from junior outside hitter Rylan Misegadis. Brush finally broke through on a kill by Nevaeh Speicher, sparking a short 3-0 run, but the Lady Raiders quickly slammed the door. Junior Jordan Schnell delivered her first two kills of the day, while Junior Right Side Reagan Nesbitt added her third of the set as Sidney stormed out on a 10-1 run to make it 19-4. From there, the Raiders cruised to a dominant 25-5 win.

The momentum carried into set two. Misegadis, Schnell, and Nesbitt each put down two early kills as Sidney built a commanding 17-7 lead. Brush steadied its play and traded points the rest of the way, but the early deficit was too much to overcome. Sidney closed it out, 25-16, to go up two sets to none.

Brush briefly showed life in the third, scoring the first two points of the set for their only lead of the match. But after falling behind 3-1, Sidney erupted on a 15-3 run, fueled by two ace serves and four combined kills from Kierra Schrader and Nesbitt. That surge sealed the sweep as the Raiders finished off a 25-12 victory.

Brush was led by Larkyn Queen with five kills, while Speicher added four. Sidney spread the offense with Misegadis pacing the team with nine kills, Nesbitt right behind with eight, and Schrader adding five.

The Lady Raiders will look to keep the momentum rolling when they return home to host Mitchell on Tuesday night at the Cabela’s Athletic Facility.
