BENKELMAN, Neb. — The Dundy County-Stratton Tigers moved to 2-0 on the season with a 44-16 win over Bridgeport Friday night in front of their home crowd.

Senior Ethan Latta wasted no time setting the tone, breaking free for a 65-yard touchdown run in the first 30 seconds of the game. Latta continued to pile on the production, finishing with 111 rushing yards and 38 receiving yards, totaling 149 yards of offense and two touchdowns.

Senior quarterback Dante Horner was equally impressive, completing 10 of 13 passes for 186 yards and adding 56 yards on 9 carries, racking up 242 total yards on the night.

As a team, the Tigers amassed 356 yards of total offense, rushing 20 times for 170 yards and passing for 186 yards.

Bridgeport was led by senior Nik Weibert, who rushed 17 times for 79 yards and completed 9 of 19 passes for 76 yards. Weibert accounted for both Bulldog touchdowns through the air, connecting with senior Gage Nein and junior Landon Dean for scores.

Nein recorded five catches for 30 yards, while Dean added three grabs for 29 yards.

Bridgeport ran 49 times for 209 yards and added 76 passing yards, totaling 288 yards of offense, but struggled to convert drives into points against a disciplined DCS defense.

With the win, Dundy County-Stratton (2-0) will return home to host Sutherland on Wednesday, Sept. 11. Bridgeport (1-1) will look to bounce back when they host Sandhills Valley on Thursday, Sept. 12.
