Stanton, Neb. – The city of Stanton's water boil order, which was put in place due to the detection of E. Coli bacteria in the city's water supply during routine testing in August 2025, has been lifted.

After multiple water tests were conducted and samples were sent to the state lab for evaluation, all 20 samples tested negative for E. Coli, according to Stanton County Emergency Management Agency officials.

To prevent future contamination, the city of Stanton is taking additional measures, including replacing a broken screen at the water tower. Additionally, the city has begun draining, cleaning, and sanitizing the water tower, as well as chlorinating the main lines, as recommended by the state. A couple of hydrants near the water tower will also be flushed.
