Fire Department issues smoke caution for Panhandle region

SIDNEY -- Smoke from wildfires is drifting into the Panhandle region, and it’s beginning to affect local air quality.
According to recent advisories, conditions may range from Moderate to Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups.
If you’re sensitive to smoke -- especially children, older adults, or anyone with respiratory conditions -- please take precautions:
• Stay indoors as much as possible
• Keep windows and doors closed
• Use air purifiers if available
• Limit outdoor activities, especially strenuous ones
If you’re healthy, symptoms like coughing or shortness of breath are signs to take it easy.
The Fire Information for Resource Management Systems U.S./Canada shows active fires in Canada from western Ontario to the Pacific Ocean. The map also shows active fires in the U.S. from the Pacific Ocean east to northern Wyoming and southern Montana, and the western slope of Colorado.
