CHAPPELL, Neb. — Chappell has been chosen to participate in Nebraska Children and Families Foundation’s Communities for Kids initiative, a statewide program aimed at addressing shortages in high-quality early childhood care and education.

The multi-year planning and implementation effort was created in response to concerns that limited childcare options impact children’s development and make it difficult for communities to attract and retain workers.

Through the initiative, Chappell will receive assistance in identifying strengths and gaps in its early childhood programs, creating strategies to meet priority needs, and connecting with experts in areas such as financing, program design, and best practices. Communities for Kids will also support local efforts to pursue grants, public funding programs, and other financial resources.

“Communities for Kids is excited to work closely with Chappell community partners using a collective impact approach to address their quality early care and educational needs,” Assistant Vice President of Early Childhood Programs at Nebraska Children and Families Foundation Laura Kemp said. “With this approach community partners will lead the way by determining their own needs and strengths while Communities for Kids provides support and technical assistance along the way.”

Chappell joins other Nebraska communities working with the program to strengthen opportunities for families and build sustainable solutions for early childhood care.
