NEBRASKA CITY- CHI Health St. Mary’s and the Lincoln-based Wellbeing Initiative are launching the Comeback Eradicating Rural Addiction program with community partners.

A hospital press release says the program fosters hope and provides a pathway to recover for individuals and families struggling with substance and opioid use.

The hospital provides a community health navigator that can help people connect to treatment programs, peer and family coaching and access to overdose medication.

The Comeback ERA program also pairs a plain clothes police officer and peer support specialist to make visits in safe spaces.

The press release the dedicated outreach team offers compassionate support and connection to community resources, recovery coaching and treatment.

Wellness Community Navigator Tanner Cohoe said he understands the potential for positive transformation and expects to use his own struggle with addiction to help others find a way out.

He is working with Officer Jeff Lant, who said the outreach team is tasked with loving people in hurting places.

Wellbeing Initiative has self-advocacy, WRAP and open recovery at Falls City and Nebraska City.
