Disturbance, damage at Valentine motel leads to arrest

VALENTINE, Neb. — A 30-year-old man has been charged with assault after a disturbance at the Super 8 motel in Valentine.
According to court documents, police were called to the motel on Aug. 19 for reports of a broken window and an argument. Witnesses told officers the suspect, known only by the nicknames “Chile” or “Chilango,” hit a man, broke the window and threatened to shoot people.
“They did not know ‘Chilango’s’ real name as he had never informed anyone and was believed to be keeping his identity secret due to being an illegal alien. Chilango was later identified as Rafael Arenas Ignacio-Valdez,” the court affidavit reads.
When law enforcement attempted to arrest him, authorities say Ignacio-Valdez resisted and ignored repeated commands before being taken into custody. He was transported to the Cherry County Justice Center, where the affidavit states that he provided a false name.
