BRIDGEPORT -- The Morrill County Commissioners Tuesday voted to conduct a special election on whether or not to recall County Assessor Rose Nelson.
A recall petition was started by Jessica McKay with more than 700 signatures submitted.
In a July 15 social media post, Nelson said an investigation was conducted, and she was cleared.
"The State of Nebraska Property Assessment Division even examined my records because of accusations by the head petitioner. My office was open, all records were available for them to inspect, and I was cleared of the allegations," Nelson said in the social media platform.
Should voters decide to recall Nelson, the county commissioners will appoint a replacement.
The election will be held Nov. 4, 2025.
