CHSAA Warns of Social Media Phishing Scams

AURORA - With fall sports getting underway, the Colorado High School Activities Association wants to alert the public and its member schools to a growing trend in internet scamming. Hundreds of Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram and YouTube events will be promoted on social media and they appear to be real live streams but are actually phishing for personal information. The same phishing scams are also known to happen in Wyoming and Nebraska.
These posts appear as legitimately scheduled live streams associated with CHSAA or a member school and they provide a link or QR code to scan to watch a scheduled live stream. When you click on the link/scan the QR code, you are typically asked to enter personal information to gain access to the video.
These are fake. Please don’t enter any information.
As always, before clicking on any links, make sure the account is reputable by checking the account activity and number of followers, for example.
If you come across an account that looks to be fake, report the account as fake and block it.
Please check with your local high school athletic department for the correct location to listen and watch your favorite team safely.
