GORDON, Neb. - An 18-year-old Gordon man is facing a felony charge after a stabbing sent another man to the hospital.

Trevor Tayle has been charged with attempted first-degree assault. According to court documents, Tayle and Douglas Charging Thunder were fighting when Tayle stabbed Charging Thunder below the left ear. Charging Thunder was taken to Gordon Memorial Hospital and later flown to Monument Health in Rapid City.

An arrest affidavit states the investigation began around 1 a.m. on June 6, when an officer received a report of a group being chased in Gordon. The officer found several people in the parking lot of the NAPA building. One of them said Charging Thunder was covered in blood and had been chasing them with a bat.

When police located Charging Thunder nearby, his shirt was covered in blood. He told the officer he hadn’t noticed the injury until it was pointed out. Another person in the group was holding a bat, according to the affidavit.

Tayle is scheduled to appear in court again Thursday, Aug. 21.
