NORFOLK, Neb. - With school starting up again, also comes football season. For the Norfolk Catholic Knights football team, expectations going into the season are high.

After going 13 and 0 and winning a state title for the third year in a row. Head coach Jeff Bellar wants his team to forget about the past and focus on making their own legacy this year.

“We come out every day and I tell the guys from day one really try to forget about the past," said Coach Bellar." We have to try to blaze our own trail now and get ourselves ready and see what we can do, and I think especially our seniors are excited about it.”

The knights will start blazing their own paths against a familiar opponent, the Bishop Neumann Cavaliers, on Friday, August 29th. The knights played against Bishop Neumann in the state title. Senior Tackle Leighton Burbach knows they have a target on their back from last year.

“ We have Neumann first, which is going to be a tough challenge," said Burbach. "We played them twice last year, the first game and the last game, so you know we know they're going to be out for blood and just keeping it wake by week and having the mentality that we're better than our opponent.”

For senior running back Nathan Timmerman, the goal remains the same as the years before: run the ball hard, win, and make it to another state title.

“The expectations are to be as best as we can be," said Timmerman. "So we can make it back down to Lincoln.”

Keeping things one week at a time, the knights are set to play their first game of the season at home on Friday, August 29th
