LINCOLN, Neb.- The University of Nebraska president’s bonus will not go into his pocket, but back into the universities programs.

University of Nebraska President Jeffrey P. Gold has declined his almost $160,000 bonus that was approved on August 14.

Instead the funds will be used to support the NU system schools and programs.

“Every day, I am proud and humbled to lead the University of Nebraska,” Dr. Gold said in a news release. “I am grateful for the strong support of the Board of Regents and inspired every day by our students, faculty, and staff. It is an honor to be able to make this decision to support our University and the communities we serve during this critical time for higher education.”

The NU system is facing a $20 million gap in the budget, even increasing tuition by 5% earlier this year.
