ALLIANCE, Neb. – Three people were injured Thursday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash at 3rd Street and Laramie Avenue in Alliance, according to the Alliance Police Department.

The accident was reported at approximately 4:08 p.m. Responding officers found two adults inside a red Jeep with severe injuries. The driver was slumped over, not breathing and had only a faint pulse. Officers removed him from the vehicle and began life-saving measures, including CPR and the use of an AED, before the Alliance Fire Department took over medical care.

The Jeep’s passenger sustained serious leg injuries and possible additional trauma. Officers applied a tourniquet to control severe bleeding before the passenger was transferred to fire department personnel.

A white Chevrolet Silverado involved in the crash had heavy front-end damage. The driver suffered leg injuries from the head-on collision with the Jeep.

The force of the crash pushed the Silverado into a white GMC Yukon. All occupants of the Yukon declined medical treatment.

Police said preliminary investigation and witness statements indicate the Jeep was traveling west on 3rd Street from Laramie Avenue when the driver experienced a medical emergency, causing the vehicle to cross the center line and collide with the eastbound Silverado. The impact pushed the Silverado backward into the Yukon.

The Jeep’s driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The Jeep’s passenger and the Silverado’s driver were transported with non-critical injuries.

The Nebraska State Patrol conducted a full traffic reconstruction. The Alliance Police Department is handling the primary investigation and thanked the Alliance Fire Department, Box Butte County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol and the City of Alliance Streets Department for their assistance.
