SIDNEY, Neb. – A potential chlorine leak at the Hampton Inn in Sidney on Thursday morning prompted a coordinated Hazmat response from multiple local agencies.

According to the Sidney Police Department, officers responded to the hotel along with the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department and Sidney Regional Medical Center Ambulance Service. The unified command system was implemented to manage the incident, which originated from the pool equipment area.

Authorities said the situation was quickly and safely mitigated, and there are no ongoing hazards. The hotel’s pool will remain closed until state authorities conduct a full inspection.

One person was injured during the incident and is receiving medical care.

Police praised the Hampton Inn staff for their professional response, which contributed to the quick resolution of the situation. Officials also thanked hotel guests for their cooperation and understanding during the emergency.
