KEARNEY, Neb.-- Kearney Little League has ended their season with a regional semi-final finish after winning state and several big wins in regional play.

Kearney Little League shipped off to an eight team Midwest Region Tournament on August 1 in Indiana.

KLL dropped the first game against Wisconsin 13-5, but climbed their way back up in the losers bracket. They went on the play three days in a row and came out with three wins against Minnesota, Missouri, and Iowa to send them to the semi-final.

With their lowest scoring game all tournament, Kearney Little League lost to South Dakota 3-1.

While the boys came up just short of the chance to compete in a Super Regional Championship, head coach Austin Persinger spoke highly of the team that showed up this season.

"This is arguably the most special sports team I've ever been apart of, whether I was playing on it, coaching it, or any sport, baseball, basketball, football," said Persinger. "This was a team that was special top to bottom."

During the week-long regional, the boys had the opportunity to mingle with other players from across the midwest, practice in high level facilities and be featured on ESPN.

North Dakota ended up beating South Dakota 5-4 in the Championship and will advance.
