GRAND ISLAND, Neb.— Hornady Manufacturing in Grand Island is supporting the development of apartments for those who are homeless or experiencing disabilities.

Hornady is an ammunition and reloading equipment company whose donation will be put towards the $10 million project for the Lighthouse Apartments.

The apartments will provide 20 units of permanent supportive housing for individuals and families experiencing chronic homelessness, including those with disabilities. It will also combine long-term housing with voluntary, trauma-informed support services.

Hope Harbor, who is spearheading the project, is extremely appreciative for the donation.

“We are incredibly grateful for Hornady Manufacturing’s generous pledge and deep commitment to the Grand Island community,” said Liz Mayfield, Executive Director of Hope Harbor. “Their support brings us one step closer to creating a place where stability, safety, and dignity are for everyone. This gift is more than a donation—it’s a statement of belief in a stronger, more inclusive future.

Currently in the fundraising and site planning phase, the development is slated to break ground in the spring of 2026, with completion anticipated in 2027.
