Wilber Czech Days set to bring thousands for a weekend of culture, dancing, and kolaces

WILBER, Neb — One of Nebraska’s most beloved cultural traditions returns this weekend as Wilber Czech Days once again transforms the Czech Capital of Nebraska into a vibrant celebration of heritage, music, and community.
The festivities unofficially kick off Thursday night with a slate of pre-festival events, including Legion Bingo, polka music in the Hotel Wilber beer garden, and a free community dance featuring Angie Kriz and the Polkatoons, with a special appearance by the Wilber Czech Dancers.
By Friday, downtown Wilber comes alive with street vendors, Czech sing-alongs, art and costume exhibits, and the beloved Children’s Parade. The excitement continues through the weekend with nonstop entertainment, including accordion jamborees, performances from Czech dance groups, and the always-popular Kolace Eating Contest.
A highlight of the weekend is the Miss Czech-Slovak U.S. Pageant, drawing contestants and crowds from across the country. Visitors can also enjoy Sunday’s flag-raising ceremony, parades, and traditional music performances at multiple venues throughout town.
Founded in 1962, Wilber Czech Days was created to honor and preserve Czech culture in Nebraska—and it’s done just that. What started as a local initiative has grown into a nationally recognized festival drawing tens of thousands each year.
The best part? Nearly all events are free and family-friendly.
So bring your appetite for kolace and maybe some polka dancing—Wilber Czech Days promises a weekend packed with tradition, laughter, and small-town pride.
