Carpet Land Post 500 downs Equitable Bank Post 211 in back-to-back games to advance to Class A Legion Baseball State Playoff
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. - The Carpet Land Post 500 Seniors (Lincoln East) needed to win twice to keep their season alive, and did so Wednesday to advance in the Class A Legion Baseball postseason.
Equitable Bank Post 211 (Elkhorn North) came into Wednesday's contests 4-0 in the National Division State Tournament in Grand Island, and needed just one win to claim the championship.
Carpet Land won game one 7-1 over Equitable Bank behind a 10-strikeout performance from pitcher Jack Ohler.
The offense notched seven hits, including a two-2 RBI double game from Player of the Game Dele Odulate.
In game two, Carpet Land led 4-0 after two innings, before Equitable Bank came close in the 5th inning on a 2-RBI double from Ethan Asmus.
But, Carpet Land starter Grayson Bjorkman was too much, and pitched a complete game to give Carpet Land the championship title by a 5-3 score.
Equitable Bank Post 211's season comes to an end with a 35-20-1 record and a National Division State runner-up title.
Carpet Land advances to the Class A Legion State Playoff, and will play Lincoln Southwest for the playoff title on Sat. Aug. 2 in Lincoln.
