FREMONT, Neb. — Emergency personnel at the site of Tuesday’s explosion in Fremont have recovered the body of a missing man.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says the man was an employee of Horizon BioFuels. Crews found his body about 24 hours after the blast. Authorities have ordered an autopsy.

City officials said previously that the man’s young daughters were also in the plant when it exploded. Recovery crews continue to search for them.

“Due to the structural instability caused by the explosion and the fire’s deep-seated hot spots, operations remain complex and hazardous,” Fremont Rural Fire Chief Carl Nielsen said.

Nebraska Task Force 1, which is a team of search and rescue specialists from Lincoln, remain on the scene. As many as nine different fire departments have responded to the disaster.
