Snow plow driver charged in trooper's death

PLATTSMOUTH – A snowplow driver has been charged with misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide in the accidental death of Nebraska State Trooper Kyle McAcy in February.
Thomas Jordan, 56, of Palmyra is charged with the accidental death. A Cass County court complaint alleges he was driving carelessly.

The Nebraska State Patrol reported the loss of the 10-year veteran while he was assisting at an Interstate 80 accident scene, which was one of 17 crashes the state patrol responded to during blizzard conditions on that Monday.
McAcy was assisting after a car rear-ended a snowplow near Ashland. Reports at the time said Trooper McAcy asked the snowplow driver to move the equipment and then went to assist people in other vehicles. The plow fatality hit the trooper while in reverse.
