Lake Mac Casino and Race Track nearing opening day
Facility seeking at least 100 employees
SIDNEY -- Lake Mac Casino and Race Track held a job fair Sunday afternoon in Sidney.
Company representatives were at the Comfort Inn and Suites meeting with applicants and accepting applications. Sharon Haselhoff, region vice-president of Elite Casino Resorts, said the event went well as of about 4 p.m.
"We've been here a little less than an hour. We've had a number of people come through looking for the job opportunities. Actually, a few people looking for table games jobs. Table games won't be open quite until next year. But it's great to have those resumes ready to go when we're ready," Haselhoff said.
She said they have numerous positions open until the table games are ready.
"Right now, we're hiring for folks for our cage, our resort club which is where you get the Players Club Card, security, surveillance, some food and beverage positions and our Sports Book. That's always popular as well," she said.
She said there are a lot of different jobs for people in the area. They plan on 100-120 employees at the temporary property, and a little more than 300 employees when they get to the full resort.
"And again, lots of different departments will have eight different departments and jobs within each one of those departments. A little bit here for everyone. We're looking for folks that really want a career. We really believe in promoting within whenever possible, so its great to get on the ground level," Haselhoff said.

Lake Mac Casino and Race Track is located just south of the eastbound entrance to Ogallala from Interstate 80.
