ST. EDWARD, Neb. — Residents of St. Edward in Boone County are clearing debris after a powerful storm swept through the area, uprooting trees and bringing wind gusts exceeding 60 mph. While storm spotters reported ominous funnel clouds, none touched down, averting potential disaster.

The Ansin family's home bore the brunt of the storm when a large tree toppled onto their roof. "It was just really raining, and all of a sudden we heard this really big boom," said Michelle Ansin. "My son was in the basement and saw the tree coming down outside his window. He yelled that the tree just fell on our house."

A crew swiftly removed the tree and cleared debris. The homeowners are now assessing the damage to determine repair costs. Theirs was the only home that sustained significant damage.

The Loup Power District reported a downed power line, but crews quickly repaired it, restoring power to affected areas.
