Fair Board finalizing details for 2025 Fair week

Volunteers needed
SIDNEY -- Monday’s meeting of the Cheyenne County Fair Board included review of rodeo events.
The Fair Board is still seeking volunteers for various positions at the Beer Garden. Volunteers are needed to help sell beer tickets, and check IDs; specifically for the 9 p.m. to midnight shifts.

Much of the meeting was spent reviewing assignments of board members, promotional agreements, and pre-registered competitors in rodeo events.
The rodeo will start with the coronation of the Cheyenne County Fair and Rodeo Queen and Lady in Waiting. This year’s Queen is Sidney High School freshman Austin Hurt and Lady In Waiting is Aspyn King.
“So, on Tuesday, the night of the rodeo, we have our queen coronation. It starts at 6 o’clock. We have to do it that early to fit everything else in, said Shelby Roelle.
The rodeo is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Events are filling, according to Deb Vach of the Rodeo Committee; 22 contestants.
“Our Mutton Bustin’ filled up, two more today,” Vach said Monday.
Bull Riding numbers are low, but the committee and Fair Board are optimistic. She said there will be two sections of barebacks, two sections of saddle broncs and one section of bulls. She added numbers could still change.
Kent From said there are seven bull riders registered. However, walk-ups are welcome.
“We have 24 tie-downs in slack, 11 steer wrestlers in slack, 19 team ropers in slack, and 42 Barrell Racers,” Vach said.
The Rubber Check Race is scheduled for Wednesday, July 23, the Truck and Tractor Pull Thursday, July 24 and the Night Show with Hunter Hayes and Brendan Walter.
