KEARNEY, Neb.— The Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island is celebrating after setting another monthly record for enplanements.

The airport's previous record was 6,294 for June. This past June, they recorded a total of 6,489 flights.

“So far this year, five out of six months are record-breaking, and we are on pace to break the 2019 record,” Hall County Airport Authority Executive Director Mike Olsen said.

Olsen says Allegiant Air’s additional third flight each week from Grand Island to Mesa Gateway is a direct contributor for this record-breaking month.

Central Nebraska Regional Airport has also broken enplanement records in both January and February. This past January was the busiest on record and February saw the highest number of enplanements since 2019.

Due to demand, American Airlines has issued larger jets to service from Grand Island to Dallas-Fort Worth. These larger jets will allow 10 more passengers per flight and are set to begin on August 6.

Allegiant Air will continue to fly twice a week out of Grand Island to Las Vegas and Mesa, while American Airlines will fly twice daily to Dallas-Fort Worth. This allows Grand Island area residents access to almost anywhere in the world from the Central Nebraska Regional Airport.
