Boone County hosting 'Bee Happy' themed fair
Albion, Neb.-- Albion was buzzing this weekend— literally. The Boone County Fair kicked off with a ‘Bee Happy’ theme that had people wearing their black and yellow.
As the fair’s annual parade marched through town with firetrucks and bee floats. The theme was pretty evident. However, it wasn’t just the bees catching the attention. At the fairgrounds, a pony named Raindrop was a hit at the kids exhibit, where little ones could get up close, learn about animals, and sneak a pet or two in.
“Raindrop is our miniature Appaloosa horse here at Mini Barnyard Friends. She was born in 2022, and we hope to get her trained to pull pretty soon," said Sarah Seamann, who is Raindrop's owner.
In the air conditioning, there was plenty of award winning art and other objects on display. With some bee related ones, of course.
“It was the first one I just got buckled down and did it,” said Jane Prothman. Prothman's quilt took first place in the fair.
The fair also had dirt track races, but, they weren’t the only ones with mean machines. A kid tractor pull contest was going on as well, where kids would sit sat one a pedal powered tractor and competed to see who could haul the “mean machine” the farthest.
The fair last from Sunday, July 13, to Wednesday, July 16.
